Ottawa Champions Game – Sunday July 30, 2017

On Sunday July 30, above 60 lawyers, judges, friends and family attended the Ottawa Champions game to raise funds for Operation Come Home.  We had great weather, great food, and were able to see Justice Jack Nadelle throw out the first pitch.  We raised $2000 for the Music Works Program at Operation Come Home.  Many thanks to those who attended and supported this event!

Join us for the official Barristers for a Better Bytown launch event on March 31, 2016, at the University of Ottawa, in the Alumni Auditorium of the Jock Turcot University Centre, as we host a screening of “David & Me”. This event is being held in conjunction with the Criminal Law Students Association of the University of Ottawa Law School.

“David & Me” is a documentary about two unlikely friends – a convicted murderer and a young, Canadian filmmaker. David McCallum is 29 years into a life sentence. Despite a mountain of evidence that should exonerate David, or at least grant him a new trial, filmmaker Ray Klonsky and a pro-bono team are stymied by a justice system that is not designed to free the wrongly convicted. When news of a DNA match that fingers a new suspect surfaces, the team thinks justice will finally be served. But they quickly learn their fight has only just begun.

Admission: Accepting donations.  If you wish to obtain a ticket in advance or make a donation, please contact us at betterbytown@gmail.com. (Tax receipts available for donations of $15 or more).

Proceeds from the event benefit the Tamarack Trades Training Centre: http://tinyurl.com/YSBfundraiser.
